Throwing a Halloween Party

We are now entering the first full week of Halloween, so it's time to break out your decorations if you want to make the most of it. Here are some fun party and decorating ideas.

I love desserts, so of course I have to show this incredible Halloween table setting by Amy Atlas, whose amazing work has been garnering much praise from the blogosphere lately. It's a great place to start for inspiration for your own Halloween party. Based on how much time you have, you could either make or buy desserts (those brownie pops are available here)and candies (or do a combination of both as Amy does)to create a similar table setting.

These drink dispensers from Pottery Barn would make a great addition, plus you could use them year-round, so they would be a great investment, and at $79 a pop, they really are an investment.

You could add canisters like these Voluminous Camilla Canisters ($54-$69), also from Pottery Barn, filled with candy in order to help create height and fill space. Again these are great because they can be used year-round and are pretty enough to be displayed either empty or with whatever baubles you have lying around.

This black cake pedestal ($39) with the laser cut spider web cake stand wrapper ($10 for a set of six) add a nice touch.

Then make spider web cupcakes- frost Devils Food cupcakes (of course!) with white frosting, then use a Wiltons gel tube in black to draw a spiral on top starting from the middle and going out to the edge. Then drag a toothpick out from the center to the edge about five times to make the web. When you're done you can place them in these laser cut spider web cupcake wrappers ($14 for a set of ten) for an extra special touch.

Last, but not least, don't forget to do your Jack-0-Lanterns. Pictured here are a few ideas from Martha Stewart or you can download free templates from here.
