New Spring perch! Product

I always find such great product offerings on Supermarket. It’s my go to source when I need some inspiration or a unique gift. I just recently discovered (or was just reminded) that perch! has a shop on Supermarket where they sell not only new product, but samples and prototypes there as well. I’m liking these new color fade styles of perch!’s classic Beak and Rabbit vases. So Springy!

Did you also know that perch! offers samples and prototypes of their ceramics here? Well now you do.

Oscar-worthy Gowns

Sorry for the lack of posts the last two days. It was due to a confluence of events- a little vacation away from the internet, a bit of work to catch up on, and a bout with food poisoning. Now I’m back online, caught up at work, and feeling healthier, so I can finally share with you some of my favorite dresses from the Oscars.

Penelope Cruz in vintage Pierre Balmain… love the bead work on the bodice and the lace skirt with tulle overlay.

MileyCyrusOscars.bloomalicious
Miley Cyrus in Zuhair Murhad. Critics be damned, I love the silver sequin rimmed petals on the skirt. I love the belt at the waist. The fit is perfect for her and it’s got just enough girlish fantasy going on to befit her age.

NataliePortmanOscars.bloomacious
Last but not least, was Natalie Portman in a pretty orchid pink Rodarte dress. I love it’s simplicity and the bright color was the jewel in a sea of reds and neutrals.

Friday Photo Finish

I love ice cream. No, I really looove ice cream. So much so that I crave it in the middle of winter on the coldest rainiest days. The point is that I recently bought a couple of the robins egg blue mini cafe bowls from Anthropologie that I’ve been admiring for so long. I bought some orange sherbet because I really wanted ice cream on Valentine’s Day, but Pete doesn’t really like ice cream. He does however like sherbet, and I wanted to get something that we could share. While eating the orange sherbet out of the blue cafe bowl, I noticed how pretty the colors looked together so I decided to take some photographs.

Curtained Storage

I really like the idea of creating a storage space where there wasn’t one or hiding clutter by hanging up a curtain. It’s such a simple and inexpensive way to solve a problem. Here are some cute examples that I’ve seen.

Curtain doors.decorology.blogspot.com
This one involves creating a nightstand out of a small bookcase by simply hanging a curtain over the bottom two shelves.

curtains.bathroomsink.countryliving.com
Pedestal sinks can be nice to have except when you live in a small apartment or house. This curtain is a fast and cheap and easy solution to creating a storage space for towels and other bathroom necessities rather than replacing the whole caboodle with a cabinet.

Another example of using a bookcase to hide clutter. In this case it’s being used in an office. It works great here to help eliminate the noise of the tools of your craft, leaving your senses less distracted and more focused on creativity.

Lacking a proper closet for storage in the bedroom or playroom? Just buy a shelving system for storage or a rolling rack for clothes, and cover the whole thing with fabric that matches the room and allows it to blend in.

Ugly kitchen cabinets, but no budget to replace them? Try removing the doors and replacing them with curtains instead.

Here’s a great quick and inexpensive storage solution for the dining room. From the outside it looks so fancy, but hiding underneath…

…you’ve got bare bones storage.

This is a pretty simple project that would require just a sewing machine for the curtains, a staple gun to attach the fabric, and a few nails to hold the whole thing together. Be sure to choose your shelving materials according to how much weight you plan to put on it. It’s always best to consult with your local hardware store person on these matters. Also be sure to have the dimensions with you when you go as most hardware stores will cut the boards down to size for you.

Oh Dior!

Love these effervescently springy gowns from the Dior Spring 2009 collection. They’re just so happy and beautiful. The details are exquisite. They’re like the dresses I dreamed of wearing some day when I was a little girl. Long live couture…

My only question to John Galliano is why do the models have to look so angry?

Kari Herer Photographs

I just spied this print in the Winter ‘09 Martha Stewart Weddings magazine and was just so awed by it. I love the contrast between the dark background and foliage and the brightness of the flowers. So breathtakingly beautiful.

In addition to the above she has many more photos available for sale on her Etsy shop. I particularly love the Peony prints.

Vintage Bowling Pins

Wouldn’t these colorful vintage bowling pins available from Etsy seller Sweetshorn Vintage look so cool lined up on a white shelf or on a fireplace mantel? You could also use them on top of a console or as a fun centerpiece on a dining table. Love it!
