Holiday Cards 2009

Shopping for Christmas cards is one of my favorite things to do this time of year, so much so that I often have a hard time choosing just one style, and usually end up buying two different sets.  This year it will most likely be no different as you see from the cards below, there are just so many gorgeous cards out there these days that it truly is impossible to settle on just one.

Happy Thanksgiving

Wishing you a wonderful day filled with friends and family.
pomegranate.countryliving
Please remember to take care and not drink and drive.  Last night as I was driving to my parents house for Thanksgiving, a drunk driver a few cars ahead of me lost control of her SUV.  She managed to miss the other cars on the road as her car careened back and forth across the freeway.  She came within 10 feet of hitting a tree head on, but she got lucky and managed only to flip her car over onto its roof onto a frontage road.  Her passenger suffered some minor injuries, but the driver was fine and no one else was involved.

It was quite the sobering sight see, and it was quite frightening as it was happening, wondering how bad it was going to be when it all stopped.  It’s the not the first time that a drunk driver has put my life at risk either.  So please remember that by not drinking and driving or allowing anyone you know to drink and drive, you could be saving not just their life, but the lives of the other people on the road.  Last night, it was not just the drunk driver that got lucky, it was the rest of us on the road with her and our families that were lucky as well.  It could have been so much worse.  For that I am so thankful to be home with my parents, my brother, my sister, and my nieces and nephews, and to have the love of Pete who is with his family today.

Friday Photo Finish

Some photos that I took at the San Diego Zoo.  It’s so much fun to visit zoos.  The animals have so much character.

Tree Bookshelf

I love this, and would totally put it in my apartment.  Because really, who needs kids to own something so cool?  I don’t!

On Being Creative…

BeingCreative.busybeingfabulous.typepad.com
From one of my new favorite blogs, Busy Being Fabulous.  She’s a photographer, she’s a stylist, and she’s amazing.

I’ll be updating my blog roll some point very soon, I promise.  Unfortunately it took hours to get yesterday’s post up (sometimes the stars just align against me… fortunately, I refuse to give up!), so I just don’t have the energy to even start working on that.

Friday Photo Finish

A bit late on this one, but I had a pretty busy weekend (two nights, two couples, two dinners to prepare), and I had hundreds of photos from San Diego to sort through and do some color correcting on (it was overcast some of the time).  So here is the first grouping.  Just some random shots from around Coronado, downtown San Diego, Balboa Park, and La Jolla.

We stayed here.

We saw sand art (graffiti?) like this all around Coronado… and I loved all of it.

We ate here with this view.

We took long walks along the beach every morning.

We saw him in a yard snacking on a hibiscus flower on one of those walks.

A vintage sign the color of the sky.

We ate here too.

I’ve always liked this type of umbrella.

We saw this musical trio in Balboa Park.

And waited and watched for a little boy to catch the brass ring.

Then we were awed by the beautiful buildings…

and the multi-colored stones…

and everything in between.

At the waterfront downtown, we entered the land of giants.

Popcorn Chicken, anyone?  We had just eaten so we weren't that hungry.

At the end of a long weekend… a beautiful sunset serves as a wonderful send off on our journey home.
