High Anxiety

Finally starting to feel normal again after last week’s bout with the flu, which kept me away from work for two days.  I’m feeling a bit like this right now about the upcoming week.

Dust to Dust

Artist Hannah Bertram spends days creating incredibly intricate patterns from dust using a combination of brushes, a sieve and her custom made stencils, only to have her artwork blown, trampled, and brushed away.  And she enjoys every minute of the process.  For Hannah, the destruction of her installations is a vital part of their existence.

Nail Love

Alix of The Cherry Blossom Girl blog has been sporting these dual colored nails on her blog lately, and I’m completely smitten with them.  She recently posted a how-to, and they are surprisingly easy to do.  I might just have to try these out myself soon.

Luggage as Storage

Most of the time I’m pretty good about emptying my suitcase when I get home from a trip, but I’ll admit there have been times when a week or so later after a trip my clothes are still packed away in my suitcase.  If only my suitcase were as stylish and functional for the home as these created by designer Lotty Lindeman.  Then at least I’d have an excuse.

Soft Wood

Designer Veronika Wild Gruber created this series of chairs in order to show how wood can be both soft and as comfortable as it’s cloth and cushion counterparts, which they mimic.

Cool Color Combo: Pale Aqua & Gold

Such a lovely combination of colors on these chairs by Kaki Foley as part of an exhibition at Anthropologie’s New York Rockefeller Center location in support of, and featuring, artists and designers from New Orleans.

Striped Paper Bowls

These beautiful bowls are hand-made from 100% recycled paper and designed by Japanese artist Takumi Shimamura.  They are finished with a water-resistant coating to help them last.  I think they would be quite interesting pinned in a group on a wall.

EmersonMade Tees

As soon as I saw the new EmersonMade t-shirts on Joanna’s blog this morning, I knew I’d have to get one.

A Project for the New Year

Love this DIY project from Design Sponge.  A sentence a day however prophetic or mundane written each day on a dated card and each year you add another sentence to that same card, so that over time, you have built up a daily history of your life.  Perfect as a gift to a loved one or to yourself.
